Day 1 - Switching to Hard-Core Carnivore (again)

Hey there.  I started my Hard-Core Carnivore Challenge yesterday.  Yes, I called it a challenge.  Why not?  And it just so happens that there are 70 days left in the year (from yesterday) so this will be a 70-day challenge.

Big Anklevich and I finished our last challenge, a 90-Day BBBE challenge, in early October 2022 (last year).  I had lost almost 60 pounds and weighed in at around 390 pounds.  Eventually I strayed and went back to my terrible way of eating.

Then in March of this year we started again, but I was trying to find a way to do it without a challenge and came up with a point system for passing or failing in my way of eating.  I did well, but would end up failing every couple weeks.  I would get back to it, but would then fail again.

On August 1st, Kelley and I started the 75 Hard program.  She did it full throttle, but I modified it a bit.  Everyday, I had to 1)  stick to my way of eating, 2) drink a gallon of water, 3) exercise, 4) read 10 pages of a non-fiction book, 5) watch a Carnivore related video, and 6) take a picture of myself.  Kelley did the same, but exercised for 45 minutes twice daily; and she didn't watch a video daily as that is just something I added for myself.  I did well with the eating, water, exercise, and reading.  However, I have not been seeing the results like I did last year.  I have not been losing very much weight.

So now I am going back to Hard-Core Carnivore with BBBE and will probably throw in some type of periodic fasting.

I will be posting on this blog daily of what I am eating and other stuff.

So for yesterday:

Meal 1

  • Taco Meat with sour cream, shredded cheese, and salsa. (I know this is not BBBE, but I finished off these remaining items from the fridge at work.) Accountability
  • One hamburger patty, and one hot dog

Meal 2

  • Six scrabbled eggs and about 1-pound of bacon

Walk of Life #1

First of all, I'm sorry.  This was my first attempt to record myself while taking a walk.  Unfortunately, for the first ten minutes, my huffing and puffing made it hard to listen to so I decided to leave the talking to after the walk was over.

So Tangy

Today's Treats:

- Blackened chicken, with a bit of Ranch dressing, smoked almonds, banana
- Three slices of ham, three mozzarella sticks
- Tangy Chicken* on cauliflower rice

*The tangy chicken recipe is chicken breasts cooked in a Crockpot with onions, green pepper, celery, stewed tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar, lemon juice, Wororcestershire, and beef bouillon.  There are a few non-keto items in there, but...

What's so bad about fruit?

Monday's Treats:

- Six slices of summer sausage, two slices of cheddar cheese, two hard-boiled eggs.
- Smoked almonds, orange
Two hamburger patties, five pieces of bacon, four pieces of cheddar cheese

I like to eat fruit.  Bananas, oranges, apricots, peaches, pears, etc.  In trying to eat mostly a ketogenic diet, those fruits aren't allowed, only berries.  I like berries, but I like other fruit as well.  I get it.  Most fruits have carbs and sugar.  It's natural sugar, but your body treats it the same.  Still, it really hard to look at a piece of fruit and say, "That's not good for me." The earth provided this for me to eat and enjoy.  I know. I know.  Pesticides, mass production, GMO, and all that.  Regardless,I plan to keep eating fruit.  Not to excess, maybe I won't eat it every day, but I'll still eat it.  If it is technically counted as a cheat, so be it.  For now, anyway.
